Charles was an avid collector of train memorabila and love all the things about the railroad. Whenever I hear the trains whistles I think of him.
On October 1st 2007 his life was cut short suddenly in a work place accident. He was struck in the head with a heavy piece of equipment that fell 40 feet down onto his head. He was wearing a hard hat. The blow to the head caused fatal damage to his brain. He was resucitated 3 times and needed a ventilator to help him breath. The damage to his brainstem was so severe that our family had to make the most painful decision of our lives. On October 4th we let him go to heaven. My dad was a hard working man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was strong, kind, funny and generous. He would give his shirt off his back to help someone when he was alive. So in death we donated his organs and tissues so other's could have a second chance for life. Though his death was devastating to our family it is comforting to know that his final gift's have saved many lives and other families are celebrating the second chance for life of their loved ones. My dad is my hero and always will be. I miss him very much and feel blessed that he was my dad. He is forever in my heart.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to ME". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
